Manhattan Maple Syrup

  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of whiskey
  • A few orange slices
  • A couple of maraschino cherries

Steps

Making Vanilla Maple Syrup

  1. Boil the sugars, water, and corn syrup.Place both the sugars, as well as the water and syrup, in in a sauce pan. Allow them to come to a boil over medium heat. After everything is boiling, reduce the heat to medium.
  2. Simmer the sugar mixture.Cover the pan. Allow your sugar mixture to simmer for 8 minutes so it thickens into a syrup-like consistency.
    • You do need need to stir the mixture while it simmers, but keep an eye on it. If it seems like it's burning, you may need to reduce the heat.
  3. Mix the maple extract and vanilla. After 8 minutes, remove the lid. You can now mix in the maple and vanilla extract. Stir your syrup until everything is mixed evenly.
    • You should have a mixture with the same consistency as maple syrup when you're done.
  4. Store your syrup.Allow the syrup to around room temperature before removing it from the pan. Pour the syrup into a few glass jars. Cover the jars and place the syrup in the refrigerator until you're ready to use it.
    • If you want to use the syrup right away, you can use it as soon as it's cool.

Making Blackberry Maple Syrup

  1. Combine the syrup, blackberries, and thyme.Use a small sauce pan to combine these ingredients. Then, place the pan on a stove over medium heat.
    • You should cook your mixture for about 5 minutes, but it may take longer or shorter depending on the precise heat of your stove.
    • When the mixture is done cooking, the blackberries will begin to pot.
  2. Simmer for five minutes.Once the blackberries pop, remove your pan from the heat. Cover the pan. You will need to allow it to sit, covered, for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain out the thyme. After 10 minutes have passed, use a strainer to strain out the thyme. You can serve your syrup right away when it's warm. You can also place it in an airtight container and serve it later.

Making Peanut Butter Maple Syrup

  1. Combine the maple syrup and peanut butter.Add your maple syrup and peanut butter to a saucepan. Boil the mixture on medium heat until it simmers. Whisk it the entire time it's heating, as this will help the peanut butter mix evenly.
  2. Simmer the mixture for five minutes.Once the peanut is mixed in, and you have a steady simmer going, allow the mixture to cook. It should take about 5 minutes for the syrup to cook completely. Continue to stir on occasion, as this will help mix in the peanut butter further.
  3. Serve your syrup warm. This syrup is best when it's served warm. Allow it cool slightly, so it does not burn your mouth, and then serve.
    • If you have any leftover you can store it in an airtight container in your fridge and then reheat it for later.

Making Manhattan Maple Syrup

  1. Boil your ingredients.Add your maple syrup, whiskey, orange slices, and cherries to a sauce pan. Allow the mixture to come to a simmer over medium heat. Cook your syrup for about five minutes.
  2. Allow the mixture to steep. You need to let the mixture steep so the flavor is absorbed. After five minutes, remove your pan from the heat. Set it aside for about 10 minutes.
  3. Strain out the orange slices.Use a strainer to strain out the orange slices. You can use the syrup right away. You can also transfer it to an airtight container and serve it later. It tastes good chilled as well.
